Nathan spent the latter part of his Bachelor’s degree and the early part of his career focused on aquaponics and its potential to change lives. While in the industry he has dedicated himself to understanding extreme poverty and how aquaponics projects in their different forms can help to alleviate poverty. Before Cosecha, Nathan completed his Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Engineering with a minor in watershed science at Utah State University and volunteered for an extended period with CHOICE Humanitarian in Mexico, assisting with and learning about their community development efforts. Nathan feels truly in his element when rubbing shoulders with people from all walks of life. He cherishes the opportunity to exchange values and share time and experiences with those who are served by the work of Cosecha. Nathan lives in Logan, Utah and likes to spend his weekends climbing mountains and enjoying the outdoors.
Lance Bullen is a founding partner of Colmena Group, a Salt Lake-based real estate development company, where he oversees deal-sourcing and raising equity, focusing on the guiding vision and investment strategies for the organization. Lance received an MS in Real Estate Development from Columbia University, an MBA from the Gore School of Business at Westminster University, and a BA in Spanish from the University of Utah. Lance is passionate about community involvement. He is one of the co-founders of Cosecha Aquaponics and is passionate about sustainable food production ideas with applications in developing countries and at home. Lance currently serves as a board member for the Economic Development Corporation of Utah and CHOICE Humanitarian. As a lifelong Utahn, Lance enjoys many outdoor activities in the Salt Lake area with his wife, Emily, and four children.
Jonathan Bullen is a founding partner and the current Chairman of Colmena Group, a real estate development company. He first began investing in real estate in 1984 and is a founding member and major investor of Wasatch Premier Properties as well as a Founding General Partner of Woodbury Strategic Partners (WSP) in 2011. In addition to his real estate experience, Jonathan has owned and managed businesses in the fields of telecommunications, proprietary career education, and the health & fitness industry. Jonathan served as an elected director of the Career College Association from 2006-2008. In addition, Jonathan has served as Executive Director of the Capitol Arts Alliance, which is a public-private partnership that renovated a historic theater and constructed an arts center in Logan, Utah. Jonathan received a BS in Business Administration and a Minor in Economics from Utah State University and was born and raised in Utah. He and his wife, Julie, love calling Salt Lake their home and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Nate Bullen is a partner and VP of Development at Colmena Group, a Salt Lake-based real estate development and investment company where he sources and underwrites real estate investments. Nate received an MRED from Arizona State University and a BA in Spanish from the University of Utah. Prior to graduating from the U, Nate played basketball for Utah State University from 2000 – 2001. Born and raised in Utah, Nate and his wife have four children and enjoy spending time in the outdoors and participating in sporting activities. He is an avid Jazz fan and is very active in his local community and church service.
Aabir Malik joined Colmena Group over ten years ago after establishing his real estate career working on student housing in Austin, Texas. Since coming to Colmena, Aabir has overseen over $500 million in real estate development projects in senior housing, student housing, multifamily apartments, hospitality, and retail. Aabir’s specialty is community-oriented experiential development projects, focusing on partnerships with community stakeholders to improve the built environment. Aabir has been interested and actively involved in the work of Cosecha for the last couple years and has a heart for service and making a difference.
